Changes in the physical body, the lack of sleep, increasing demand for presence and responsiveness as well as societal expectations mean hat new parents can find themselves floundering, feelings isolated and inadequate. If this resonates with you, know that you are not alone. The stats are clear, for women, the perinatal period is the most likely time for to experiences a mental health disorder. This is not because women are weak, but because the task at hand is huge and it can’t be done alone. All parents, including new dads are also more vulnerable. This is why its crucial to reach out for help as soon as you start to worry about how you are feeling. There is no benefit to waiting and no concern is too big or too small.
