Psychotherapy for adolescents
Today’s adolescents face many complex and novel challenges that most parents have not faced themselves. The impact and significance of social media, the fast changing nature of friendships and the reality of a planet that is under the threat of climate change are just some of the things our young people are facing every day. Psychotherapy is a modality that allows for consistent and gentle ways of supporting a young person to pause and think about their own internal experiences without the pressures of outside world dictating how they should feel or behave. When supported, young people can feel much more secure in their own decisions and views of the world as well as become more willing to reach out to trusted adults when needed. The ongoing work with parents also allows for more effective ways of communication that can reduce conflict and create more meaningful connections.
