Psychotherapy for adolescents

Today’s adolescents face many complex and novel challenges that most parents have not faced themselves. The impact and significant of social media, the changing nature of friendships and the reality of a planet that is under the threat of climate change are just some of the things our young people are facing every day. Psychotherapy is a modality that allows for consistent and gentle ways of supporting a young person to pause and think about their own internal experiences without the pressures of outside world dictating how they should feel or behave. When supported, young people can feel much more secure in their own decisions and views of the world and become more willing to reach out to trusted adults as needed. The ongoing work with parents, also, allows for more effective ways of communication that can reduce conflict and create more meaningful connections.
